About Nutritional Therapy
HELPS YOU TO . . . . FEEL GREAT. . . . STABILISE WEIGHT. . . . BOOST ENERGY LEVELS. . . . FREE YOURSELF FROM TROUBLESOME HEALTH COMPLAINTS. . . .What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic approach to healing which works on all the inter-related systems of the body and mind. It seeks to resolve the underlying causes of illness rather than just providing symptomatic relief.
Nutritional Therapy aims to help individuals achieve an optimum level of health and vitality by addressing a whole spectrum of health symptoms and concerns, which are often routed in nutrient deficiencies or imbalances.
Imbalances can sometimes be genetically inherited causing an individual to have an increased requirement for certain nutrients. Age and lifestyle factors can also place additional demands on the body's requirement for specific nutrients.
Because different foods contain different nutrients, a dietary programme can be drawn up to help ensure that the client is meeting their required nutrient levels (...a client's taste, preferences, budget and cooking skills are all taken into account). Often a supplement programme is advised to speed up healing and assist the client towards optimum health (...although this is optional and not a requirement). Diagnostic testing can also be used, via approved testing laboratories, when necessary.
Why is good nutrition so important to good health?
We sometimes need to be reminded that food is more than just fuel. It provides the very building blocks of our body. Although as adults we stop growing in height, our bodies are constantly renewing themselves. For example, our blood cells are renewed about every 3 months, our skin about every 3 weeks and our gut lining about every 3-5 days!
What we eat and drink can have a profound effect on our mood, energy levels, ability to concentrate, hormone balance, immune and repair systems -including inflammation control, cardiovascular health, skin, digestive health, weight management and much more.
Why is good nutrition so important in the modern world?
In our struggle to save time and balance our fast, modern lifestyles many of us have moved away from wholesome freshly prepared foods in favour of processed convenience foods, caffeine and sugary snacks. This, in addition to stress and environmental pollution, can leave us depleted of essential nutrients. Furthermore, intensive farming techniques and long-haul transportation of foods can reduce the level of nutrients even in our 'fresh foods'. Moreover, we now live in a media-driven society and are consequently bombarded by conflicting information with regards to health and nutrition. This often leaves us confused about what we should be eating.
Consulting a nutritional therapist can clarify any confusion you may have with regards to nutrition and your health issues and is a simple way to gain expert advice. As a client you can expect to walk away with a workable monthly programme , designed specifically to address your health needs and to feel motivated to 'Eating Your Way To Health'.
